Apress Author Sian Morson Bringing Diversity to SXSW
Apress author Sian Morson was highlighted by The Root as one of 15 digital entrepreneurs who are bringing diversity to SXSW Interactive (Austin TX, March 11-15). The article shines a spotlight on a growing list of black technologists who are bringing diversity and thought leadership to the world of startups and technology.
Sian Morson (@xianamoy) is an entrepreneur, mobile evangelist, and strategist. In 2010, Sian founded Kollective Mobile, a mobile development and strategy agency. She’s published two iOS books with Apress: Designing for iOS with Sketch and Learn Design for iOS Development.
Her latest venture—making its debut at SXSW—is Cast Beauty, a new mobile platform that uses weather data to bring users personalized product recommendations. The app lets users rely on weather data to provide personalized skin- and hair-care tips for a great look all day long. Cast Beauty was “one of three startups recognized by L’Oreal as Next Generation Award winners for having the potential to disrupt and transform the beauty industry.”
On Tuesday, March 15, the Apress/Springer team is hosting Happy Hour from 4-5pm at Booth #1139 in the Austin Convention Center. The first 25 people to attend will receive a free copy of one of Sian’s books. If you’re in Austin for SXSW, stop by to meet Sian and check out her best-selling books.
